International Woman's Day.

I had literally NEVER heard of this until yesterday. Apparently it's a lot bigger in Italy  and Europe than the U.S. Unless you're Michelle Obama. Looking totally lovely, she made a speech yesterday in honor of Woman's Day, and said,

“I get to speak first while he stands and watches. I love this,” she said to laughter. “Look at me adoringly,” she told her husband.

In Italy, they sell special flowers on the street that are yellow and look like an allergy ridden person's worst nightmare, but it's a very sweet thought. Although the general sentiment among women is that it is political, thereby not sincere. Perhaps a bit like saying that Valentine's Day etc. are creations of greeting card companies.

I can see the point, since Italy has the lowest amount of women in Parliament in all of Europe. Nice.

Happy Turkey Day!

Michelle Obama looking gorgeous on Thanksgiving, non? They look so adorable. The dress is...to die for.

Earlier President Obama pardoned Courage the Turkey in a tradition that's been going on since Harry S. Truman's administration.

Adorable. Bet they still had turkey for dinner though- that bird wasn't so lucky.

Woman of the Year.

Michelle Obama. What a cool lady. Glamour magazine just voted her 'woman of the year' and I couldn't agree more. Is it weird that I was really excited to hear her dating advice? I mean, obviously she knows how to pick 'em. But anyways, here, enjoy:

On dating advice for women: “Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul…. When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

First Family Portrait.

This is a sneak peak at the Obama's first official first family portrait, shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz on Sept. 1, which was released on Friday.

I love it. It feels very relaxed and you really get a sense of the family. It's nice. Other thoughts?

It's Eerie

It's like I'm looking at a picture with my hypothetical glasses on. This could be me and Court in twenty years! Of course, Court is Michelle Obama and I'm Jill Biden. I love it! Damn, she's got some good hair.

Haha I love it! And it's so true- I am Michelle. Love it.

Hula Hoop Queen.

First Lady Michelle Obama was hosting a "Healty Kids Fair" on the south lawn of the White House on Wednesday when she participated in many of the events herself, including a hula hoop contest, where she managed an impressive 142 swings before the hula hoop fell.

She also ran an obstacle course barefoot, and unsuccessfully tried to join in on double dutch, which, really- that stuff is difficult. Double dutch takes talent. I don't know if you've seen that Disney channel movie with Corbin Bleu, but it's hard.

The first Lady told the 100 kids in attendence that her favorite food is french fries (mine too!) but balance in your diet is important for any diet.

"I tell my girls this: If you're getting the right foods for most of the time, then when it's time to have cake and french fries on those special occasions, then you balance it out," she said.

Seriously, Michelle Obama is in stellar shape, non?

Health Care Hottie.

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at an event about the importance of health care reform, and it's impact on women and families in the U.S. on Friday. Looking fabulous I might add.

“The status quo is unacceptable,” Michelle said. “It is holding women and families back. [Women are] disproportionately affected by this issue because of the roles that we play in families. [And women] are more likely to work part-time, or to work in small companies or businesses that don’t provide any insurance at all.”
