What We Be Watching

I was talking with Courters a few days ago about what new shows we're watching this season. And, honestly - there are tons! Fall 2009 is totally surpassing the past falls by leaps and bounds. Old shows have stepped it up and new shows are killing it.

So, I figured Court and I would let you know what we're watching this season. Keep in mind - most of it's through hulu.com, but this is what we would be watching if we did nothing.

My Picks:
Monday - Gossip Girl (The CW), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Two and a Half Men (CBS), CSI: Miami (CBS)
Tuesday - BIGGEST LOSER (NBC), The Good Wife (CBS), The City (MTV), The Hills (MTV)
Wednesday - Glee (Fox), Modern Family (ABC), New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS), The Middle (ABC), FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (The 101)
Thursday (a crazy day) - Bones (Fox), The Office (NBC), Parks and Recreation (NBC), Community (NBC), Grey's Anatomy(ABC), 30 Rock (NBC)
Friday - Psych (USA Network), Monk (USA Network)

My favorites new shows so far are Modern Family and The Good Wife. Modern Family is so funny. Really, I think anyone can watch this show and relate to one of the families. I was really on the fence about the show before I watched the pilot episode. Really, it's totally worth getting involved. It's a quotable show, always good in my book.

The Good Wife! Love, love, love it. Such a good drama. So proud of CBS for bringing a non crime solving drama. Show revolves around Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), the wife of a politician in the midst of a sex scandal. She's forced to go back to work as a junior attorney at a prominent law firm. From day one, she's informed that her position is a not permanent, but a six month competition between her and another jr. attorney, Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry!!). She's dealing with a husband in prison (and his army of skanks), two teenagers and an overbearing mother in law, supporting the family and trying to survive a major scandal. The Good Wife's cast is a major selling point. Chris Noth plays Margulies' husband.

Love Fall '09.

My picks-
Monday: Heroes (NBC), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Gossip Girl (CW), House (Fox)
Tuesday: Apparently THIS is when I get homework done.
Wednesday: Glee (ABC), LOST (ABC), Modern Family (ABC), Friday Night Lights (The 101), Law and Order: SVU (NBC)
Thursday: Bones (Fox), The Office (NBC), Parks and Recreation (NBC), Community (NBC), 30 Rock (NBC), Vampire Diaries (CW)
Friday: Ugly Betty (ABC), Psych (USA)
Saturday: Saturday Night Live (NBC)

I would also like to say that I resent Gray's as the head picture for this. I hate that show. It disappointed me terribly.

SKINS!

hello, my loves.

i'm still at school- deathly ill, but hanging in there. but, being sick and on medication led me back to iTunes. it's my crack. really, i love it. i just wish i could buy music from the bloody uk.

whatevs.
my most recent purchase is season three of skins. the show has promised a new cast every two seasons, which is an awesome idea minus the fact that i was emotionally attached to sid, tony, cassie, jal, chris and most of all ANWAR!

but, i'm about to start the first episode, though i went ahead and got the entire season ($17, bye bye babysitting money)! i can't imagine it being near as good as the first two season and now i have to work to understand a new group of brits. whoever told me watching television was relaxing, never watched a show on bbc america.

court's seen a few episodes and loves cassie (the anorexic pill popper, remember?) so hopefully she'll tell you what she thought and everyone will jump on skins' bandwagon.

ps. a confirmed book is in the works and rumors are a movie is coming soon!

fyi. i just googled "skins season 3" for the promo pic, i'm not the only one missing the first batch.

Sadly, I was only able to watch a few episodes of the first season, but I totally love it! Hmm. I wonder if I can borrow it from Theo since I have her iTunes password. Sweet. IDEA.

Haha but it is just that good- love Cassie. She is so sweet! The cast is awesome. Love them all. Watch- you must!

For you Theo: Watch True Blood or I won't be your friend anymore. Then this will be a very cold, cold blog. Neither of us want that.

Think about it.

Watching is Sexy : I'm Going to Live Forever

Twenty-nine years ago (1980), Fame was realized, instant classic- my mom told me she used to pray that one day everyone would one out into the streets dancing. At this time, she was twenty and she’s probably seen it about that many times.

Later this year, a remake of Fame will be realized. I’ll be nineteen and predict that I will be there the day it opens with a ton of fifty year olds trying to recapture their youth.

Nevertheless of the crowd, I’m sooooo excited. I saw the original with my mom when I was around ten – I laughed and cried. Hopefully the new one will have that ability!

The trailer looks good, promising. Lots of new and old faces that should get you excited!

Why You Should Watch:

Skins, from BBC America. Honestly, one of the best shows on television... in the world- cause of the BBC thing... you know? But, really, this show is like The OC on crack. In fact a line from the show is - "It's like the fucking OC in here."

The show follows seven university students in Bristol, UK. We see their insane relationships with each other over 19 episodes with each character having at least one decided to them. The best part is that because it's from BBC America, it has all of our favorite four letter words. None of that, "Crap, he just made out with my boyfriend, I hate him." And, yes, I chose those words carefully.

Dev Patel.

FOLLOW THE LINK and laugh.

stop, admire, love, breathe and continue.

Dev Patel (s.a.l.b.c.) got his start on Skins as the insanely funny Anwar (hope you watched the link). The rest of the cast are pretty much unknowns to us with the exception of Tony, played by Nicholas Hoult - the kid from About a Boy. But from watching the show, I'd say just about everyone brings something to the table with really diverse cast.

Hannah Murray plays the lovable anorexic, pill-popping Cassie - she, basically, steals ever scene she's in and there are for sure parts of her wardrobe I want to steal. She's gotten the most publicity out of all of the cast members, besides Dev, with a ton of magazine features and a few UK covers.

The show also has an amazing sound track - personal favorite: Hummingbird by Born Ruffians, which was on The Hills a few weeks ago (there goes that). But, each episode holds at least two good tracks and there are a few online boards that have them listed if you're willing to search. But, who isn't for a good song?

iTunes offers the first two seasons for about $37 and the third one is running now in the UK. I've been trying to find the show online without much success, but I'll keep everyone updated.
