Dear Men, You Seriously Want This?

At approximately 11:30 this morning a group of my friends were split over the apparent love that men have for Zooey Deschanel. All of the fuss was created over this photo.

In case you're confused as to why this would be unsettling for people, take a good hard look at her bag. Because guess what folks, it's a leather bag... in the shape of a bunny. A BUNNY!

Do I even need to explain to you why this is upsetting?

The point that was generally being argued was that even after Zooey D has exhibited time after time that she enjoys acting and dressing like a 12 year old girl, men are still enamored with her. This is throughly confusing to me and to those women who were present this morning

Instead of acting like a grown women who plays a manic-pixie-dream-girl on a television show, she has become the epitome of hipster in her everyday life.

I can say, she is indeed gorgeous...

But why does she have to act like a small child to create a career? Or to attract men? Neither of these things is acceptable to me. I need more, and I think it's fair of all of us to expect more from a 32 year old woman than a leather bunny bag!

This movie looks hilarious. I am so excited about this- even though I'm kind of on the fritz with James Franco right now. Not sure I'm liking the buzz I'm getting on him from Yale's campus. He's kind of letting off an "I'm so awesome and intelligent I hang out at Starbucks constantly 'trying' not to get noticed."

Barf. But this movie is what he does best- maybe he'll win back my good graces.

Les Chanteurs, Partie Deux.

Folksy-minded folks will be happy to hear that after Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward's delicious 2008 debut album "Volume One" of their band She & Him, the implied promise of "Volume Two" is on the way.

The album was recorded in Portland and Los Angeles over the past year and a half, penned by Zooey and produced by M. Ward, and about the upcoming project he said,

"I think that the dark shades that were on the last record are maybe a little bit darker on the new record, and the brighter shades on the last record are a little bit brighter on the new record," Ward told Paste magazine. "I think that people are going to hear more contrasts, which is always something that I shoot for in the studio."

No official release date has been set, but sometime in the spring seems to be expected. Wonder if Zooey's new husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard will be making an appearence on the record?

"I learned that Matt can become a virtuoso of any stringed instrument he picks up, which is tremendously unfair to the rest of us mortals," Deschanel notes. "It's great to work with Matt because he is always true to himself, and working with him over an extended period confirms this time and again."

 Ha. She calls herself a mortal? Geez, what does that make me?

Sister Act.

This is what I've been waiting for ever since I caught onto "Bones". Zooey Deschanel is going to be making a guest appearence!

She'll be playing a long-lost relative of Dr. Brennan's, who comes to spend Christmas with her. The episode will air Thursday, Dec. 10.

A Match Made in Indie Heaven.

Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab for Cutie frontman (as well as The Postal Service) Ben Gibbard tied the knot on Saturday night near Seattle.

The wedding was kept under wraps, except for a tweet from Death Cab guitarist Chris Walla that indicated a wedding was going down, but no mention as to whose. Deschanel's rep recently confirmed the news to People.

Death Cab for Cutie has contributed 'Meet Me on the Equinox,' to the New Moon soundtrack, and Gibbard will be making his acting debut in Brief Interviews with Hideous Men out this Friday, also the directorial debut of John Krasinski, who is newly engaged (boo hoo).

Finally, (500) Days of Summer.

One look at this poster tells you everything you need to know about the relationship between Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel) and Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Tom, always struggling to reach out to Summer and her carefully polished demeanor. Constantly pulling Tom in while simultaneously locking him out.

One important example of this I can list, because it's in the trailer anyways, so I'm not giving anything away (Note to Theo: not giving anything away). Summer tells Tom she thinks they should break up, because they're always fighing. "Bullshit," he responds. Then a surprisingly fresh version of a typical Sid and Nancy joke.

The movie begins in a very Romeo and Juliet-esque way, with a baritone voice foretelling the outcome of their relationship right from the very start. The movie begins on day 290 of the 500, when all is not well between the title character and the leading man, and jumps around to important days in their relationship from there.

This movie shows how different the perceptions in a relationship can be- the little things you brush to the back of your mind when it comes to a relationship, and the little problems you just can't seem to let go when it comes to that same relationship.

The music is amazing. That I was expecting- a little annoying how Tom acts like it's the most wonderous and rare thing in the world how Summer likes the Smiths. It's not that rare of a quality. But as my sisters boyfriend pointed out- people who like Tom always think their qualities, good or not, are rare.

His is a bit like one of THOSE guys- brown jackets, I call them. They hang out in Starbucks or some "local" coffee shop reading some Tolstoi, or writing into the New Yorker. You know the kind I mean. He also takes advice from his "super annoying little sister who is wise beyond her years". I put that in quotes because it's such a clichè type of character, and she wasn't needed. His guy friends were enough and much more realistic. Plus as a little sister myself, I'm so sick of the steryotype.

As for Zooey Deschanel, she is constantly in blue. There is literally one scene where she is not wearing blue. It got a little old after a while, and it kind of got you thinking that the director was kind of in love with Zooey a bit- like Baz Luhrman and Nicole Kidman kind of deal.

The dialouge is quick and upbeat, a lot of it is a bit overly trendy, but that's to be expected. It had me laughing a lot and there were so many endearing and quirky scenes. Tom has a spectacular, Enchanted- like romp through the city, dancing and interacting with the people around him. It was a scene that really energized the whole movie.

I also love how they didn't dress this up too much, we saw the flaws in both people. Emotionally and physically. One scene has Zooey going through the rain, and when we see her, her hair is frizzy. This means a lot to me, a girl with curly hair who is constantly at battle with the frizz. But even super straight hair has no chance in the rain- Hollywood never seems to catch on to this rule.

This movie isn't perfect, but like the baritone voice tells you in the first few seconds, those first few make or break seconds, this is NOT a love story. It's a story about love.

The Girl Has...Everything.

Zooey Deschanel always reminds me of that song from The Little Mermaid.

Anyways, my fave was on Top Chef Masters last night. She was so adorable! The chefs were to cook a lunch for her and her friends, but there were some limitations, since Zooey is a Vegan and gluten-intolerant.

She was so adorable about it though! How cute is this- she had her mom at the lunch! Her mom looked totally normal, and they had the funniest little dialogue going. Le sigh. What doesn't this girl have?

500 Days of Summer is being released everywhere tomorrow. Will you be going? I know I will. I am SO there. Her and Joseph Gordan-Levitt? Yes, the girl does have everything.

Alexa, My Hero.

As one of our sister blogs, aWAKEning reported earlier, Alexa Chung is the ish. After I read their article, I was curious, and caught the show one day.

Now I have to warn: before this show, I had a strict absolutely no-MTV policy. Their shows provoke an uncontrollable anger in me, and I have learned that it's better for those around me if I stay away. The Real World (they were terrible after Hawaii), Parental Control? Remember that one where someone would go on a date with your mom and then decide who they wanted to go out with? Interesting social experiments, I admit, but horrible, horrible examples of humanity. A showcase of people who need to be neutered.

I made an exception for It's On With Alexa Chung, and I am so glad I did. She is so funny! Maybe it's her British accent, or her awesome clothes...it's all of it. She is just the ultimate ish.

Alexa Chung is my new hero, joining Zooey Deschanel. Oddly enough they are both dating musicians. Does that say something about me?

I am currently watching on Top Chef with Zooey as a guest. Will blog about that later.

She.

Zooey Deschanel. Of the folk duo She and Him (with M. Ward being the Him) and other small and random movies (Including Almost Famous, my favorite). If I somehow landed in a movie where something crazy happened and I ended up switching bodies with someone, I would want that someone to be Zooey.

Seriously, how adorable is she? Has an awesome voice, good actress, has that whole Snow White fair skin/dark hair thing going on. Most of all, she was in a Oliver Peoples campaign with one of my top five loves, Matt Costa last year, directed by Autumn De Wilde. I've attached it below.

But I digress into envy. She and Joseph Gordon- Levitt have a movie coming out on July 17th called 500 Days of Summer. Heard it is divine, and that Joseph G-L is awesome in it. Definitely a metamorphasis from his 3rd Rock from the Sun days. Even 10 Things I Hate About You. Hmm.A pattern emerges. He does a lot of work with numbers in the title. Maybe it's coincidence, maybe he's eccentric? Wonder if he makes them change movie titles just to suit his crazy superstition. Doubt it, he doesn't seem the type, but it's a fun thought.

This movie might be my favorite of the whole summer. Doesn't have much competition besides Harry Potter, but still.
