Royal Duties.

Being a princess is hard work. I swear, every time I open up my twitter feed, it's some new pictures of the royal couple doing something on their tour of Canada. That being said,

THAT HAT IS THE BOMB. It is so amazing. I mean, has there ever been a more perfect Canada Day hat?

No, seriously, has there been? I don't know that much about Canada Day. I didn't even know that was a real thing until yesterday.
Girl can even rock a chef's smock, like she did in Montreal today with hubby, Prince William.
Next on the parade of outfits, the blue dress in Quebec! Ou la la, it's AMAZING. Love the lace, need to get myself some nude stilettos.

Hearts Break... Everywhere

Lots of Glee coming your way! It's bittersweet really. I, truly, just miss it so much. Anyways, paps caught Glee star Cory Monteith blowing with Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. Of course, you know I love Taylor Swift and Selena seems like a sweetheart too. I love when celebrities can be friends and instead of just share eating disorders (ex. Nicole Ritchie and Lindsay Lohan).

Since, Award season rumors have been swirly about Canadian cutie Montieth and country star Swift. But, now, it seems like we've got pictures of a group date. Did you hear that? That noise was girls (and John Mayer) stabbing themselves with a fork and screaming, "WHYYYY?!" I like this. I'm not going to get my hope up too high because I'm sure they're just friend now, but I'm looking for a new favorite couple to replace Sandra and He-Who-Won't-Be-Named.

Ah, to be young and in like. Cory later tweeted, "I think I sprained my shin bowling." And, yes. They do follow each other on twitter. =]

The Kid Comes Through.

This will be in the March 8 issue of Sports Illustrated, hitting the stands on March 3. Not sure if this is just in Canada, or the US as well.

But that game...epic, right? Gripping to the very end. Then, as he always does, Sid became the shining star of Canada. I totally forgot that JUST for the Olympics, I had given Sid up in favor of Brooks Orpik and Zach Parise.

This cover brings all my Sid lovin' right on back. It was amazing, wasn't it? It made the sting of losing a little less.

Kate McGarrigle Passes Away.

So sad! Singer Rufus Wainwright's mother, Canadian folk singer Kate McGarrigle died this afternoon at the age of 63. She had been suffering from
"Kate McGariggle passed away yesterday (Monday 18 January) as a result of sarcoma, a form of cancer that she was first diagnosed with three and a half years ago."
The late singer apparently passed away at her Montreal home, where she was surrounded by family and friends.

Condolences to all her friends, family and fans.

Sid with Kids.

The Pens may have lost last night (only by one point!) but Sidney Crosby is winning in other areas- yet another commercial (he has almost as many as Max these days) and this one is, in a word, adorable. Love little hockey babies. Plus, isn't it great that Sid has time for both Reebok AND Tim Hortons? Staying true to his Canadian roots, that one. There's an article about it HERE.

Not sure if I posted his Reebok commercial with Max, but if I didn't...I am so sorry. It is phenomenal. I'll put that one down last.

Broken Heart.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! My heart is...broken. In a million pieces.

Taylor Kitsch is leaving "Friday Night Lights" after this season. I know. Tears. He really was the spark of that show. For a Canadian with absolutely no acting experience, he really did wonders as Tim Riggins.

Executive producer Jason Katims told TV Guide Magazine that,

“Because this was a big opportunity for him, we wanted to let him do that. We’ll stay in close contact with production and try to get him for as many episodes as possible.”

Cory Monteith's Bachelor Pad.

Best line: "I grew up in a disadvantaged, cold place called Canada." then later, "we all have polar bears for cats."

First of all, Cory Monteith is way too tall to be wearing those shorts. They're boardering on the capri territory. It's awk, but I love him despite it.

Second of all, love how this is just SUCH a bachelor pad. I mean, look at the couches, the Rat Pack stuff and they have two living rooms. It's like they looked up bachelor pad in the dictionary. Such a random, ordinary place for a camera crew to go to. I bet it's easy to find. Sorry, excuse that little bit of crazy.

Also, I think he was trying to pull off a little Paula Deen action with that, "You want some chicken?" but there was just NO dedication. It's "Y'all want some chicken?" Very important difference.

I really want to hang out at his house. Looks like fun, and they give you chicken.

Sidney Crosby for Fiber.

Sidney Crosby is nothing if not a great...well, hockey player, but he is also the ultimate endorser. Seriously, if he started endorsing water, I would probably quit...ok, cut down, my Diet Coke habit and make the switch.
National hockey star, Sidney Crosby, gives us a glimpse of what's under his jersey as he gears up for the season. The acclaimed athlete and 2009 Stanley Cup champion is backing a campaign by Kellogg's to encourage Canadians to score the body benefits of fibre, after a new survey reveals that we're not making the grade when it comes to fibre consumption. (CNW Group/Kellogg Canada Inc.)
And Sid's press release said,

"As an athlete, I know how important it is to eat well and get this powerhouse nutrient in your diet regardless of your age or your fitness levels,"said Sidney Crosby. "Fibre benefits far more than some may think: your heart, your digestive system, your weight, and your energy levels. It's hard to believe that something as simple as eating fibre can help your body in so many ways, yet we're not getting enough. That's why I'm excited to be supporting Kellogg's efforts to educate Canadians on scoring the body benefits of fibre."
I know. Something oddly sexy about the shirt, right? Apparently it's called a 'second skin' and was specially painted for him.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this- Halloween, the Pens played the Wild at home (they eventually lost) but Sid, oh he got angry. We saw one of the rarest sights known to man. Sidney Crosby getting in a fight. He's usually too cool headed, too in the game to let guys start that stuff with him. But this time, he knew what needed to be done. Marek Zidlickey pushed him too far. So sexy. Just watch. I've seen it like, eight times already.

Hockey Meets Hollywood.

Zac Efron was at the Vancouver Canucks game with his co-star Charlie Tahan who plays his brother, Sam, in his new movie "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud" on Sunday night. Yeah, it's pretty cute. But just look at the hair. So styled. At first I thought it was that way because he was moving. Not so. It just IS like that. On it's own.

Hahaha look at him totally check out this babe on the ice. Poor Baby V, she really is too stupid. I do not understand that relationship at all. It's like a 3 year booty call. It used to be funny, now it's just sad.

Man, I really want to go to an NHL hockey game. Penguins please. I bet Zac Efron doesn't really even like hockey. Lainey from Lainey Gossip was at the game and reports that he,
Attended with a very excited young boy, his costar in his new film, was present with him the entire time, they were close, it was cute, and he didn’t look bored or disinterested. Zac had venue security assigned to him for the night. One minder sitting across the aisle who would stand guard a few steps from the front row during intermissions to block overzealous fans. He happily posed with people who were in his section but security took care of the desperates who were coming from all over the arena, two in particular tried twice to get close and were shut down both times. After every rejection, they would regroup at the exit, trying to come up with a new strategy to nail the target.

I hate those girls. Those are the girls constantly chasing my Sidney. Those are the girls that pass out when Robert Pattinson's name is mentioned. Those girls are boring.

Where There is a Will...

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as socially responsible bloggers, Theo and I have been looking for a way to incorporate this into the vapid world on which we comment.

I found a way.

Josh Harding, 6'5", 195 lbs. Chipped tooth. Goalie for the Minnesota Wild. Goalies always have custom made masks that they design or help design themselves, and Josh has a breast cancer ribbon on his for his sister. I know, aww. How cute. He is pretty adorable, just check out the video below.

Oh Hey There.

Yay, this is our 300th post! Typical it would be about Twilight. The Twi takes over everything. But this time I don't mind so much, and for obvious reasons. I like to think that this picture is Jackson Rathbone saying, "Way to go guys. You rock."

Man he looks GOOD, non? He was spotted walking around on Sunday afternoon going to the Tom Lee Music Store (with his 100 Monkeys bandmates Ben Graupner, Jerad Anderson and Ben Johnson). Apparently he doesn't like smoking, like his co-star Robert Pattinson. That's good...ok that is a really weak excuse to try to explain what is going on here, but seriously- how like, on is he? Remember this? Finally everything has come together.

Also spotted was his co-star Xavier Samuel, holding a notepad for some reason, but also looking fine, apart from his pants being all lumpy, and not in a good way (wink wink Bret and Jermaine-"Sugarlumps").
Even I have to admit, this is a great way to celebrate our 300th post. I see pictures like this and I remember why we started blogging in the first place.

Marc-Andrè Fleury's Big Day.

Marc-Andrè Fleury is...in a word, hysterical. Love him and his happy-go-lucky ways. My mom loves him too. Whenever Marc is interviewed, she shushes me so that she can hear whatever adorable thing is about to come out of his mouth. He is always doing something adorable- like after they won the Stanley Cup, and a reporter doing a live post- game interview asked him what he was thinking when there was a play for a goal in the last few seconds of the game, and he said "I was like, 'oh shit!'...(laughs) oh sorry!", or whenever the poles of a goal make a save, he pats them and says thanks. Claims he goes bilingual when he speaks to them.

Sarah and Theo know how I love to make fun of poor Marc when I'm watching hockey. It goes slightly like this:
Where iz de puck? Oh! Der it iz, I am sooo sill-ee! I found eu, eu sill-ee puk! Come bak 'ere Henri! (in a sing-song voice) My name is Marc-Andrè, I like to find de puk...

I am always ashamed, but speaking in a horrible French accent and pretending to be Marc always sends me into giggles. Henri is what Marc has nick-named the puck in this little game.

The truth is, Marc Andrè reminds me of me (obviously, this is why my mother finds him so irresistibly adorable). We both screw up in comic and seemingly impossible ways, and fix it in quirky, fun ways: Marc-Andrè locks him and his girlfriend in the basement of his house and has to break the door down. I lock me and my dog Sadie outside at midnight and have to go up to the fire station at the top of my street to call my grandparents.

Here's another example from Marc's day with The Cup: After enjoying a hearty bowl of cereal from the bowl of the Cup, Marc-Andrè decided to take the Cup for a spin in his boat, but five minutes in, the boat conks out. So a friend back at the dock climbs onto a Sea- Doo to tow in the laughing Marc-Andrè when on his way, the Sea-Doo dies too. More hysterical laughter. A neighbor came to tow them in, but Marc finally figures out that the rope was wound around the propeller and waves the neighbor off with, once again, a laugh. Worst part? His party-goers have arrived by now and are watching this from the dock. Ouch.

When my family went on a Disney Cruise a few years ago, we were docked on an island and my mom and I decided to take a motorized lawn chair out into the water. I mean, when I write it out like that, it seems like such an obviously bad idea, but the point is, it quit about five minutes out and we had to wait 20 minutes for the guys who ran the station to realize and hop on their Sea-Doos and tow us back in. In our motorized, floating lawnchair.

Marc-Andrè and I have the same views on life, basically- crazy stuff happens and life, and you either have to laugh or cry. We choose to laugh, mostly out of necessity, since stuff like this seems to happen to people like us with a much higher frequency than regular people.
Anyways, the rest of the party was in the backyard of Marc's parents in Sorel where 200 family members, friends and neighbors were gathered to celebrate, despite being interrupted by rain. After yet another party at a friends house, Marc was escorted by police and firetrucks to meet Mayor Marcel (yes, like Ross' monkey on Friends) and 10,000 fans by the waterfront. He got on stage in front of the crowd where the mayor presented Marc's mother, sister and girlfriend with flowers (aww, how cute) and congratulated him. Also there were Beauchemin and former Stanley Cup champions Pierre Mondou (won in 1977, 1978 and 1979 with Montreal) and Eric Messier (a member of Colorado's championship team in 2001).

At 7:30, Marc-Andrè took the Stanley Cup to le Club de Gold Sorel-Tracy 'Les Dunes' for a private celebration. He and his family were able to relax over a dinner while off to the side was an ice sculpture depicting the Stanley Cup and his number 29.

I think the description given by the Hockey Hall of Fame journal summs up the day best:
Never once relinquishing his broad smile, Marc-Andre looked on as a band played and dancing began. It had been an exhausting day, but worth every second of the effort it took for Marc-Andrè Fleury to share his momentous celebration.

Right on Marc-Andrè. We may get ourselves into some trouble, but we always come out smiling.

Crosby's Day with The Cup, Part Deux.

So this morning I checked the Pensblog, which led me to discover something that made me instantly squeal with delight, and then automatically tell myself, "hey, play it cool, play it cool."

Videos from Sid's big day. YES. So adorable. Forgot to mention before that Sid cleaned the cup, one of the few players to ever do so. That's the last video I think. Le sigh. He also plays street (or tennis court) hockey with a few of his friends. He plays goalie. Wonder if Marc-Andrè is getting a little nervous about that? Haha, I promise, I will remember to write about his big day. Will start it tonight.

Along with the videos, I found an interview with Sid in The Hockey News from 2007.
When the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, what will you do with it?
I have never thought about that. If I ever had the chance, I'd obviously bring it home (to Cole Harbour, N.S.) and pl
ay a game of road hockey with my friends. I've done it so many times with my buddies, we'd play for the real Cup this time. Then I'd bring it to my parents' house and perhaps to a local hospital. Hopefully I get the opportunity.

Would you look at that. He did all them thangs! Got to love a guy who sticks to his word. Anyways, if you want to see the videos, I'll put the second below. The first one was already posted here. They're all about a minute or so long, and yet someone decided to break them up into eight bits. Follow the trail from there, it's worth it.
